Description of the role:

Lead the conceptual design, layout, and installation of new utilities to support accelerator equipment and experimental setups

Maintain and improve existing utilities to ensure highly reliable, continuous operations

Troubleshoot and repair electrical distribution and piping systems

Provide day-to-day support to ATLAS Operations for AC power distribution and water cooling services

Plan, coordinate, and execute utility interruptions and installations with Laboratory personnel, building maintenance mechanics, and ATLAS Operations

Provide technical support for developing, building, modifying, and maintaining a variety of laboratory-based equipment
-
Perform operational evaluations; conduct experiments and testing; analyze data; support designs; and carry out inspections to validate system performance and compliance
Minimum qualifications:
- Proficiency in the safe use and best practices of hand tools and hand-held power tools
- Proficiency with primary AC electrical distribution systems up to 480 V
- Experience fabricating parts using basic shop tools
- Experience logging and documenting system maintenance, performance, and modifications
- Ability to work independently from verbal and written instructions
- Experience with metal and plastic pipe fitting
- Experience with HVAC equipment
